The Central High School Yearbook course is a year long course designed to create, publish and distribute the school's yearbook. Students in this course are required to learn basic elements of design, layout and photography; become familiar with the Adobe InDesign CS program and photoshop programs; learn techniques of selling ads, and then sell ads in the business community and to senior parents; create layouts and complete pages of the yearbook; and distribute the yearbook to the school population. Outside class time is often required for members of the yearbook staff, and all staff members must recognize they represent Central High School, the Yearbook Staff, and the Yearbook Advisor. Students must sign a contract stipulating they will act appropriately and commit their time to the creation of the Yearbook.
The Central High School Yearbook department provides the opportunity for students to develop creativity, learn and utilize layout and design trends, and participate in the creation and distribution of the school yeearbook. Through the study of layout and design, journalism ethics, Adobe InDesign CS, and basic business and sales ideals, the student's knowledge will continue to be refined to gain an enjoyment and appreciation of Yearbook creation, graphic design and distribution.
