The Central High School Booster Club is an organization of parents whose role is to help support Central High School sports and extra-curricular organizations. The Booster Club helps raise funds to offset the cost of running such organizations. Throughout the past decade, the amount of funds allocated to sports and extracurricular organizations has been greatly reduced as the schools face major funding issues. Realizing that students will be more productive citizens by participating is such activities, it is the role of the Booster Club to make sure these activities remain an option for all Central High School students.
Throughout the year, the Booster Club has for sale apparel to show your WARRIOR PRIDE! Apparel is available for sale at all home Varsity football games, parent/teacher conferences and freshman orientation. You can also order apparel through the business office at school.
During the 2007/2008 school year, the CHS Booster Club contributed over $50,000 to sports and extra-curricular activities. Many parents have the misconception that we only contribute to sports, but we also support other extra-curricular activities such as Student Senate, Central Ties Newspaper, Speech & Debate, etc. We also help purchase items for the school that the school would normally not be able to purchase (Marquee out front is one example).
Our main source of fundraising is running a Bingo session on Saturday nights at Junction Bingo (511 28 ½ Road). Our Bingo sessions are at 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night. In order to run these sessions, we are required to have a Games Manager in attendance. Due to natural attrition of members, we are always in need of new parents to step into the volunteer role and become games managers.
Please consider getting involved in the Booster Club as a volunteer. Most months, the meetings are held in the cafeteria on the 2nd Tuesday every month during the school year at 7:00 p.m. (Keep an eye on ParentBridge for reminders or for changes in meeting times.) Please contact one of the board members listed above to find out how you can become involved.
